I am at a loss right now

I really am at a loss for what to say tonight. I experienced God tonight leading worship, and had a great time with friends of mine after. I am amazed at the awesome God I serve, but even after all of that, I still feel empty. I don't know what it is, I just know that even though God is with me, I just feel abandoned and empty. If anyone out there feels led to say a prayer for me, I would greatly appreciate it. I just pray that God will reveal himself and that he will fill my heart to overflowing with his grace.

As this song plays on my computer, I am reminded that even though my week is busy and stressful, God's voice is in all of that. It may not be a loud thunderclap but a small still whisper. As I continue on through this week, I pray that I will not be deafened by all that is going on around me and will listen for the still, small whisper of God's voice.

what is a horned frog?

What in the world is a horned frog? Well, it is actually a lizard. It's the state reptile of Texas. But more importantly, it is the mascot of my most favorite football team in the whole world. I am a TCU Horned Frogs fan!!!! There I said it, now you know. I was born and raised in Texas, and always consider myself a Texan first. There are two things to know about Texas. We know barbeque, and we know football. Life revolves around football in the fall. Friday nights you have high school football, Saturday night you have college football, and on Sunday, well thats when the Cowboys play. All my life I have been a TCU football fan. You see, my parents went there, and well, they raised me right. For most of my life, TCU was that team that everyone loved to beat up on. We were the college football version of the Red Sox. In the last 10 years though, things at TCU have gotten pretty exciting. First off, we started winning, then we started winning big. Well this past season was unbelievable. We went undefeated in the regular season. We did lose our bowl game, but who can complain about a 12 -1 season and ending up ranked 7th in the country. Most of you know are probably asking why did he just give us a history of TCU football. Well the answer is because spring practice started today, and I am totally geeking out because it means that football season is starting to inch closer and closer. So be warned that come this September, you will be reading alot about TCU football.

A little free time on Tuesday afternoon

Well, it is 3:30 here on a gorgeous Tuesday afternoon here in Florida (that is where I live, Orlando, in case anyone was wondering), and I actually find myself with a little free time. Tuesday's are normally my busiest day of the week. I am the worship coordinator for the Central Florida Wesley Foundation, which is the Methodist college ministry to UCF, and Tuesday night is our worship service, so I am here all day getting things ready. As I sit here though, the stage is set, the chairs set up, media is all done, and I am just waiting to start rehearsal. As I have music playing, the new Wesley CD "A strange & lovely sound" is playing through the sound system. I am just amazed at the talent God has blessed this ministry with. I am also thankful that God felt inclined to give me the reigns of this importan ministry. I strive every day to not only up hold God's will, but to be mindful of where God wants the music to go. It is not up to me to push forward with progress, but up to God to lead us as we lead others in worship. I wish that was easy, but unfortunately it is not. A friend of mine posted as his status on facebook, a quote from Mother Theresa that goes like this.

"I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish he didn't trust me so much.

Man I can totally see where she is coming from. Every week I am amazed at what God has entrusted me with, and I know that the only reason I succede is because of God. My prayer for my leaders and my musicians is always that they will be empty vessels that allow the Holy Spirit to not just fill up, but to overflow with, and that they will be transparent.

Whats up with the title

This is my first blog, I thought I would try it out and let the whole world experience the musings of one "Shredder" Dave (thats me in case you were wondering). I used to work as a cook, and in my years of cooking, I have come up with two absolute rules of food.

1. everything is better deep fried

2. everything is better wrapped in bacon

Ok, with that being said, how many people think this blog will be about cooking? Well you will probably be disappointed. I don't really cook that much anymore, and this is more about me putting my thoughts down for the whole world to see (I know you all must be really excited now).
